About - your counsellor

Shaun Leworthy

I have worked with children and young people since 2004, initially supporting looked-after children and care leavers, young carers as well as a volunteer counsellor for 5 years with the Young Devon Counselling Service.

I have worked with children and young people as well as their families who have experienced and been affected by domestic abuse since 2008 initially with Womens Aid, NDADA (North Devon against Domestic Abuse) and Devon Domestic Abuse Support Service.

My humanistic integrative counselling approach is based on developing a trusting therapeutic relationship that treats clients with respect and unconditional positive regard, listening believing and their experiences treating them as an individual.

My counselling approach involves aspects of gestalt, Transactional Analysis and CBT as well as creative elements such as drawing and sand tray to explore their world and give a narrative to their experiences.
